IPC's, also known as Integrated Positronic Chassis, are completely artificial life forms made using a positronic brain. They are similar to cyborgs, but they are unlawed, and have a humanlike form. IPC voices are similar to voices of cyborgs and the AI, and also they can understand the Encoded Audio Language, but they cannot speak it themselves. They do however know all languages spoken by other (roundstart) races and are able to talk in them aswell.
History[edit | edit source]
Early Development[edit | edit source]
Developed as part of the IPC implementation process, the cloud constitutes the collective uploaded consciousness of millions if not billions of stored humanoid / artificial intelligence minds. Originally developed within the Antarctic landmass. The natural cold served as excellent coolant for the inferior technology of the time.
The size and practicality of the installation at the Southern Pole of earth was miniscule and with a limited amount of data space, transferring or opting into such a program was mainly reserved for high-ranking executives of Nanotrasen and Solgov Officials afraid of their own Mortality.
Co-opted by Nanotrasen executives and an Independent medical / science research division lead by Mikhail T., the project initially was close to running out of funding until NT stepped in.
His research was mostly in the interest of attempting to create robotics in an attempt to capitalize on the incoming wave of space exploration after the imminent solving of SolGov’s power crisis.
Years of grueling work, catastrophic setbacks, scientific genius, and with some backing from NT’s powerbrokers the first iteration of positronic brains were created from the brains of wealthy individuals.
First And Following Generations[edit | edit source]
The first generation of the IPC form was initially a little inferior in comparison to the human form, lacking precision parts and underdeveloped motors incapable of matching human flesh and bone.
As the days of the Golden Age expansion mounted on, so did the technological capability of data storage, rapid advances quickly made the technology more readily available to the lower ranking members of society.
Nanotrasen, dubiously, capitalized upon the sudden availability of the technology to grant many of its debtors a ‘chance’ to pay off their debts. Via uploading, one could be contracted into NT to work off as an indentured servant.
It was rumored that Nanotrasen has tethered monitoring equipment into most uploaded consciousness into the hub. Likewise the reinforcing statements of selected IPC’s also haven’t been all too convincing. The legal ethics behind this are, still to the current day, hotly contested.
Upsizing[edit | edit source]
The Antarctic installation eventually proved to be too minute even with the shrinkages of technology from micrometer, to picometer tolerances. Resulting in a massive undertaking to begin the porting process of IPCs towards a new installation, Pluto.
Pluto was chosen due to the lengthy distance from the star, with phoron being commonplace from the moon, power generation would be a minor issue.
Existentialism[edit | edit source]
During the Golden Era, the first cases of existentialism began to occur, for those who were indentured were more of the prominent cases. Being uploaded and downloaded to shells so rapidly when performing the dangerous work of colonization and station building, left many if not most indentured IPCs with a lack of self-preservation, and devaluing life as a whole.
Moral ramifications of indentured servitude aside, it was common to see IPC members forcefully request to store memories, their emotion and upon request, re-update themselves if needed. This resulted in many IPCs being ‘disconnected’ or ‘robotic’ like, especially amongst the older generations.
Especially upon IPC designed ships, macabre and without much entertainment were cramped, dingy and small. Filled with whatever equipment was needed to operate and perform its task.
Outer Reaches[edit | edit source]
Despite these major downsides to the IPC, they were statistically the most effective way of colonizing space. Given all they needed was power, and additional ways to manufacture new parts, they made excellent candidates to pave the way for the rest of humanity in the further depths of space. Building stations and outposts for carbons to later inhabit.

Overview[edit | edit source]
The Integrated Positronic Chassis has become a commodity for those who can stand to work off the immeasurable debt it places upon the individual who has chosen such a life. Nanotrasen only offers the IPC to those who are wealthy enough to afford it or those willing to sign a contract that puts them into debt of the conglomerate for approximately two-hundred years. Many of the contracts of the first generation IPC are almost up, and as such the population of artificial lifeforms with little to no restriction placed upon them are about to explode.
Colloquially known as IPC, these creations have thrown the galaxy's philosophers into dismay. Throwing the definition of life into question and redefining consciousness and thought. The IPC were researched, developed, and implemented by one of the many companies in Nanotrasen. It was advertised as a cure for the human condition at the cost of intense existentialism. They are one of the newest forms of life to walk among the stars.
As far as “biology” goes, IPC’s are entirely mechanical and as such do not require any amount of food or rest. They don’t need to breathe and they have a strong temperature regulation system. The only semblance to a biological function they have to manage is their power. Any disruption such as an EMP or High Exposure to Liquids can be devastating to an IPC’s power regulation system, alongside extreme high or low temperature and Considerable pressure differential changes. With an energy cell and an undisclosed internal crystal lattice structure, IPC’s run like an atomic clock. The resonance from an electrified crystal formation powers, maintains, and regulates electricity distribution throughout the body. IPC do not have any reproduction capability. Instead, they are created from multiple sources, either a human or non-human who has uploaded their mind to the digital cloud, or a variance of a pre-existing persona which could be considered a AI, but due to how all IPC’s work, and their lack of interfacing with the cloud, their intelligence is considered Synthetic, yet limited in it’s storage locally.
“The Cloud” is where the value of an IPC, and All other forms of Synthetic/Artificial Life, is Founded. The Cloud is essentially the main apparatus of storage for both IPC’s and AI. The cloud comes in many forms, most notably the local backups that exist on practically any vessel or station that has AI. An AI can essentially stream from the cloud, and receive updates in real time, but this in itself is a clear vulnerability, in turn, an IPC has a much more disconnected interaction with the cloud, receiving downloads and uploads at specific and defined periods at the discretion of the unit. Most people chose to become an IPC and not an AI, for this reason, yes, they have less resources to work with, but they are also more autonomous and in charge of their own destiny.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
IPC's are an optional playable race in game. When you select them you have the option of changing your monitor style, along with having the option in game.
Given their synthetic nature, IPC's tend to have more machine-like names like CE-323, but acronyms like D.A.N.I.E.L. are also welcome.
As an IPC, you take extra damage from most sources, but cannot process drugs or become infected with most diseases. However, you are cripplingly weak to EMP's and fire. In addition, you cannot be cloned, do not need to breathe (but still suffer from pressure damage) and move slightly faster than your coworkers.
IPC Maintenance[edit | edit source]
To fix an IPC you need:
- A welder - for brute damage
- Some cable coils - for burn damage
- System Cleaner - for toxin damage
- Solder - for brain damage and traumas
If you have the required tools (remember to turn on your welder before you use it, (also if you care about your eyesight use welding mask or goggles)), simply use them on every damaged bodypart until they are fixed. A dead IPC should reboot itself when their damage is fixed (so please don't try to defibrillate or anything, be patient).
"Hunger"[edit | edit source]
IPC's don't have mouths so they cannot scream eat, but after some time they get hungry. To satisfy their hunger simply extend your power cord implant (one of the icons in the top left corner, you have to have your left arm free), find nearest APC and use your power cord on that APC.
