Docs blue.png These are In-Character Guidelines

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are general guidelines and may be used as justification for administrative action and/or IC punishments, such as being fired from your position. They are not meant to be followed to the letter, because circumstances and context may permit you to break SOP. However, the fact that SOP is malleable is not an excuse to ignore it entirely.

Hos.PNGHead of Security[edit | edit source]

Higher alert levels overwrite SOP of lower ones.

Duty:[edit | edit source]

Coordinating the security department in the proper enforcement of space law.

Assisting the captain in making decisions on security related matters.

CONDITION 3 - RELAXED OPERATIONS[edit | edit source]

  1. The Head of Security is permitted to carry out arrests under the same conditions as their Security Officers.
  2. The Head of Security is permitted to carry any non-lethal weaponry, plus a concealed lethal sidearm.
  3. The Head of Security is not obligated, but encouraged, to allow legal representation should the suspect request it.
  4. The Head of Security is responsible for reporting poor, illegal, and harmful decisions made by the Captain to Central Command. If the Captain is arrested for breaking Space Law, Central Command must be notified with a full report.
  5. The Head of Security must follow the same guidelines as the Warden for Armory equipment.
  6. The Head of Security is not permitted to collect equipment from the Armory to carry on their person.
  7. The Head of Security may not overrule established sentences, unless further evidence is brought to light or the prisoner in question attempts to escape.
  8. The Head of Security is responsible for the actions of Security Officers, and is expected to terminate officers that actively break guidelines and SOP.
  9. Lethal force is not permitted unless the person poses an immediate threat to your life. Refer to lethal force guidelines as described in Space Law.
  10. The Head of Security must ensure that at least half of all officers are actively patrolling or on guard duty.

CONDITION 2 - STANDARD OPERATION[edit | edit source]

ALL REGULATIONS CARRY OVER FROM CONDITION 3 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED

  1. The Head of Security is no longer encouraged to allow legal representation.
  2. The Head of Security may outfit the officers with lethal weapons should a threat to the ship’s combat capabilities arise.
  3. Such equipment must be noted by the warden and should be returned once the alert level is lowered.
  4. The Head of Security must ensure that at least three fourths of all officers are actively patrolling or on guard duty.

CONDITION 1 - GENERAL QUARTERS[edit | edit source]

ALL REGULATIONS CARRY OVER FROM CONDITION 3 AND 2 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED

  1. The Head of Security may use lethal force if the suspect in question is likely to pose a serious risk to the functioning of the vessel.
  2. The crimes of Sabotage, Grand Sabotage, and Mutiny are now valid justification for the use of lethal force.
  3. If lethal force has been used in such a case as described in guideline 2, the perpetrator must be brought to medbay and revived, as such crimes are not punishable by death according to space law.
  4. The Head of Security may forcefully relocate crewmembers to their respective Departments if necessary

CONDITION ZEBRA - AIRTIGHT DOORS ENGAGED[edit | edit source]

ALL REGULATIONS CARRY OVER FROM CONDITION 3,2 AND 1 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED

  1. The Head of Security is to don a space-capable hardsuit, preferably their own, and needs to maintain a constant supply of oxygen.
  2. The Head of Security must ensure that their officers are not suffocating, and must recover them and their equipment at once if such is the case.

Warden.pngWarden[edit | edit source]

Higher alert levels overwrite SOP of lower ones.

Duty:[edit | edit source]

Be the right-hand man of the Head of Security, manage the brig and it’s prisoners in their absence.

The warden is also responsible for the armoury, and must keep a close eye to who enters it and takes equipment. Be vigilant that equipment is properly returned.

CONDITION 3 - RELAXED OPERATIONS[edit | edit source]

  1. The Warden may not perform arrests outside of the brig if there are Security Officers active unless assistance is requested by the officer.
  2. The Warden is responsible for Armory equipment. Make sure that equipment is returned when it is no longer needed.
  3. The Warden must conduct a thorough search of every prisoner's belongings.
  4. The Warden is not obligated, but encouraged, to allow legal representation should the suspect request it.
  5. The Warden may not hand out any weapons or armor from the Armory. Hardsuits may be issued if emergency EVA action is required. Exception is made if there is an immediate threat that requires attention, such as boarders or rioters.
  6. The Warden is permitted to carry any non-lethal weaponry, plus a concealed lethal sidearm.
  7. The Warden must read to every prisoner the crimes they are sentenced for.
  8. The Warden is not permitted to leave prisoners buckle cuffed to their beds. An exception is made if the prisoner repeatedly attempts to breach the cell in order to escape.
  9. The Warden is responsible for the health of all prisoners, and must provide them with food and medical attention as required.
  10. The Warden is responsible for keeping security records updated.
  11. Lethal force is not permitted unless the person poses an immediate threat to your life. Refer to lethal force guidelines as described under Space Law.
  12. The warden may leave the brig, but must promptly return should a problem regarding inmates arise, or a new inmate need processing.

CONDITION 2 - STANDARD OPERATION[edit | edit source]

ALL REGULATIONS CARRY OVER FROM CONDITION 3 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED

  1. All Condition 3 guidelines except 1, 3, and 4 are carried over.
  2. The Warden is permitted to hand out Armory equipment as the Head of Security deems necessary. Equipment must be documented, and returned once the alert level is lowered.
  3. The Warden is permitted to perform arrests, but this is not advised.
  4. The Warden is authorized to use lethal force on suspects suspected of major or greater crimes who actively flee and resist arrest, and suspects who assault officers without responding to verbal warnings to stop.
  5. The warden may only leave the brig if such is necessary for the procurement of food and/or other essentials, they must limit the time spent outside the brig as much as possible.

CONDITION 1 - GENERAL QUARTERS[edit | edit source]

ALL REGULATIONS CARRY OVER FROM CONDITION 3 AND 2 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED

  1. The Warden is permitted to carry out arrests freely if the perpetrator poses a threat to the functioning of the vessel.
  2. The Warden may outfit the officers with lethal weapons should a threat to the ship's combat capabilities arise. It is advised to notify the Head of Security before doing so.

CONDITION ZEBRA - AIRTIGHT DOORS ENGAGED[edit | edit source]

ALL REGULATIONS CARRY OVER FROM CONDITION 3,2 AND 1 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED

  1. The warden is to don a space-capable hardsuit, and needs to maintain a constant supply of oxygen.
  2. The warden must ensure that the inmates are not suffocating, and must evacuate them to a suitable space at once if such is likely.
  3. If such is impossible, outfitting them with skinsuits and keeping them buckled for the duration of the emergency is to be considered sufficient.

SecurityOfficer.pngMilitary Police Officer[edit | edit source]

Higher alert levels overwrite SOP of lower ones.

Duty:[edit | edit source]

Patrol the ship, or guard departments according to orders from the Head of Security.

Enforce space law, and fight hostile operations aboard the ship.

CONDITION 3 - RELAXED OPERATIONS[edit | edit source]

  1. Security Officers are required to tell a person why they are being detained at the time of arrest.
  2. Security Officers must bring all suspects and compliant witnesses to the Brig.
  3. Security Officers must ask a person to surrender peacefully before incapacitating them, unless they pose an immediate threat.
  4. Security Officers are permitted to carry any non-lethal weaponry, plus a concealed lethal sidearm.
  5. Security Officers may demand access to the interior of other departments during regular patrols, though one should not expect entry.
  6. Security Officers are not permitted to have lethal weapons visible during regular patrols.
  7. Security Officers are not permitted to conduct searches, unless there is reasonable evidence/suspicion that the person in question has committed a crime.
  8. Security Officers may not use Armory equipment. An exception is made if there is an immediate threat that requires attention, such as boarders or rioters.
  9. Security Officers are required to patrol the ship except when handling suspects/prisoners, responding to calls, or assigned to guard duty.
