The Figurativists are the current ruling faction, they see the words of The Moth Messiah as more figurative rather than literal.

They are a pacifistic faction that wishes to take things calmly. As Such, their Interpretation is reflects that.

"All that the Light touches, is in our domain";

All that you care about, love, Is yours to take care of.

Literalists
The literalists see The Messiah's words as literal, specifically "All that the light touches, is within our dominion."

They are very expansionist, perhaps even more so than the Draconic Empire due to their zealotry.

Of note is the fact that most people are very uncomfortable with blind zealotry due to how it almost killed the Dominion before it was born

Due to that it is a very small faction as far as numbers go, but due to their dedication, the members often make it to high ranks, including the council of Primarchs.

Regardless of this Fact, the Literalists are still a stark Minority In The Dominion.

The Dominion and SolGov have a relaxed relationship, with SolGov merely appearing one day asking if The Dominion wanted to join The Federation.

The Pacifistic Dominion accepted with very little hassle, and is nowadays the main explorer of The Federation and the second most technologically advanced faction.

SolGov doesn't mind The Dominion that much due to how unambitious they are, excluding the Literalists of course.

Draconic Empire
The relations between The Empire and Dominion have been a mess from day one.

The two factions are polar opposite, Pacifist and Militarist, Expansionist and Stagnant.

Even their cultures are polar opposites with people of The Empire being told to be loyal to the government, while the Dominion is very critical of authority.

The Empire believes The Dominion to be arrogant weaklings, while the Dominion thinks of the Empire as savage brutes, as such a shadow war is not a surprise to anyone involved.

NanoTrasen
NanoTrasen has solid relations with the Dominion, as one side always needs tech and the other more industrial capacity.

This is a very lucrative alliance for both and as such the factions are very intertwined.

Due to their good connections to both sides NanoTrasen works as a mediator between the Dominion and The Draconic Empire.

Tortugan Raiders
While The Dominion has no reason to visit the Sion cluster itself, most of their exploration is in the Dark Sector.

Due to this they have little to no engagements with the primary pirates, but find their ships under attack after attack from The Great Khan.

The Great Khan doesn't think much of the lightly armed and defended exploration vessels, being only easy pray to it.

Syndicate
The Syndicate and Dominion do not really have any personal quarrel with each other, the only reason the dominion fights them is due to being part of The Federation and by extension Whiterapids.

Due to that and The Syndicate being aware of how precarious their position in human civilization is, The Syndicate is attempting to curry favour with The Dominion.

The single biggest hurdle to said currying is The Dominion disliking The Syndicates attempts to do the same with The Draconic Empire.

Introduction[edit | edit source]

The Dominion of Light are the majority group of mothpeople and ethereals in the federation. The Dominion is their own governing body in their home system in Sector 5 and takes the form of a theocratic republic surrounding their religious icon “The Torch”. They act as a recycler and major trade group within the Federation. Many salvaged ships, nuclear waste, and other difficult-to-deal-with materials are traded to them to turn into useful materials to trade back to the Federation.

History[edit | edit source]

The Dominion of Light and the religion they follow, both predate human and mothperson written history. The mothpeople and ethereals are believed to have lived far longer than most sapient species and were only held back by their, relatively, desolate homeworld. A nearly tidally locked planet called, in Moffic, Jagåle. This planet is mostly a rocky desertscape in which half the surface sees the sun for half the year and doesn’t see it for the other half. This left the mothpeople and ethereals to roam their planet, severely slowing down their progress as a civilization.

Guiding Hands[edit | edit source]

It’s thought that the ethereals provided much of the needed support in order to allow the mothpeople to settle their own planet and develop the technology required to send their people into orbit. Since then, the mothpeople and ethereals have become an entirely space faring species, opting to build stations, generational ships. and even megastructures to support their civilization and provide a much safer place for their people to live their lives.

Mega-infrastructure[edit | edit source]

They’ve currently built several mega-structures which are always under expansion and construction. The most impressive one by far is the one around their home world of Jagåle. It’s built as a nearly complete ring around their home planet and houses a majority of their population. They have other stations around the Dominion system and most importantly, a Dyson sphere-like structure used to harvest energy from their home system's star, an impressive feat that’s yet to be accomplished by any other major organization or species.

Contact[edit | edit source]

First contact with the Dominion of Light was remarkably peaceful, the negotiations of their Non-Aggression Pact and trade agreements went swiftly and reasonably. Since joining the Federation, the Dominion stands as humanity’s most peaceful neighbor in the greater galaxy.

Relations[edit | edit source]

The Dominion is non-confrontationalist, not to say they won’t defend themselves should it be required but their civilization has little more than is necessary to protect themselves and their territory. They are frequently antagonized by independent pirate vessels and targeted by opportunistic Syndicate forces.

Disagreements[edit | edit source]

Dominion doctrine fundamentally disagrees with Draconian philosophy and refuses expansionism if it encroaches upon another species’ territory. This has led to much political debate between the two, bordering on violence. The Federation makes much effort to settle disagreements with compromises, though unless they settle their own differences there may be a violent conflict in the near future.
